What happens when the human demands of intelligence work are treated as a welfare issue rather than an operational one?

Intelligence professionals work under conditions of secrecy, uncertainty, sustained cognitive pressure, and exposure to difficult material. The consequences can affect not only individual wellbeing, but judgement, retention, organisational knowledge, insider risk, and ultimately the effectiveness of the intelligence organisation itself.

SIPSI invites you to a public panel discussion exploring the human side of intelligence and its relationship to operational capability.

The panel will consider questions including the relevance and limitations of PTSD as a framework for intelligence professionals; what the evidence tells us about psychological injury during and after intelligence careers; why experienced officers leave; the relationship between institutional support, career security, and retention; cognitive security under hybrid conditions; and what intelligence organisations can practically do to build greater resilience.
