Intelligence organisations depend on people operating effectively under sustained pressure, uncertainty, secrecy, and responsibility. But how well do institutions understand and support the human dimension of intelligence work?
 

SIPSI will host a public panel discussion examining resilience as something more than wellbeing – a question of operational capability and institutional security.

 

We will explore: 

• Is PTSD the right frame to understand psychological injury in intelligence work?

• Why can the effects of intelligence work become more apparent after officers leave?

• When does inadequate psychological support become an institutional or insider-threat vulnerability?

• How can organisations strengthen cognitive integrity, decision-making, and resilience in contested information environments?

• What should effective support for intelligence professionals actually look like?
   

​Discussants

• Chris Ioannou: Co-founder and co-director of Cyprus Security and Intelligence Institute (CySII), senior analyst with a national security background and PhD candidate in Police Studies focusing on Hybrid threats and counter-intelligence.

• Dr Petros Petrikos: Lecturer in International Relations and Head of Operations at Cyprus Security and Intelligence Institute (CySII).

• Myrto Demetriou: Co-founder and Co-Director of the Cyprus Security and Intelligence Institute (CySII), Cognitive and educational psychologist specialising in cognitive security and counter-disinformation and SIPSI co-founder.

• Paul Prouse: Intelligence practitioner, formerly of the New Zealand Defence Force, currently owner of Astro Intelligence, specialising in intelligence analysis, leadership, training, and organisational capability design and SIPSI co-founder.
